They'll talk you through quick wins worth doing yourself, supply simple draughtproofing or energy saving measures, and follow up with a written report on what to tackle next. What Surrey residents say
"
Great service and very helpful advice and report on areas we could’ve never seen without the imaging.
"
The Energy Champion was very helpful and took on board our position. She did not push any sales.
"
I thought our roof insulation was the problem, but the survey revealed otherwise and helped us identify where improvements were really needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
When will my visit happen?
After you book, we'll get in touch to arrange a date and time that works for you.
Is it really free?
Yes, the service is fully funded by the Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme so there is no cost to you.
What's the catch?
There isn't one. We're an independent community service and won't try to sell you anything.
Who will come to my home?
A trained local Energy Champion will visit your home, we will let you know their name when we book your survey.
How do I know this isn't a scam?
HEAT is a local community project supported by trusted partners and funders. We never cold call - we only contact people who have given us their contact details requesting a survey. We'll always clearly identify ourselves and explain why we're visiting.
How long does it take?
Most home visits take around an hour, depending on the size of your home.
Do I need to do anything to prepare?
For winter surveys, please turn on your heating an hour before we are due to arrive.
Will I be told to spend a lot of money?
No. We'll suggest options that make sense for your home and budget, including simple changes that cost little or nothing.
What happens after the visit?
We'll send you a personalised report summarising what we found, with practical recommendations and useful next steps.
I rent my home — can I still book?
Yes. Renters can book a visit too. We'll focus on things you can control and highlight anything you may want to discuss with your landlord.
